Meet Maz
Mazmodae Banburski-Fahey, known professionally as Feral Maz, is a Boston-based visual artist and musician. Their visceral, surrealist works are inspired by global folklore, biological processes and 19th century puppetry. Trained as an architectural welder and materials specialist, Feral Maz relishes in utilizing technical processes like mold-making and casting in the creation of their work. Sculpture, puppetry and costuming integrate with Maz’s sonic compositions via live and video performances, resulting in disturbing immersive fantasies. Through weaving a darkly saturated auditory and visual tapestry, Maz invites viewers to explore difficult topics including trauma, sexuality, gender bias and mental health disorders.
