Cast Figures

The bronze and copper figures featured in this section are original one-off sculptures from my “Prototype” series, created in 2016. Each figure was lovingly hand-sculpted directly from microcrystalline wax, sprued, molded in a silica slurry, before being loaded into a kiln, where the original wax melts and drains from the mold. Once the silica mold is empty of wax, the molten metal is poured into the cavity to create the final sculpture. This process is known as “lost wax cast technique”. Because the original wax figure is destroyed in this process, the success of the metal cast is paramount. The cycle of creation, loss and ultimate rebirth is what makes each of these figures so important. For information regarding purchasing, please email Maz.
